Ever since I saw the parade of models at Etro’s spring ‘20 show in Milan wearing these perfectly ruffled mens long-sleeve striped shirts paired with paisley jeans, they’ve had my heart. I’m not a particularly preppy dresser, which is what someone might think if I happened to mention my love for these monogrammed button downs in casual conversation, but there was something in the timelessness and ease of them that captured my attention because, let’s be honest, what I lack in preppiness I make up for in laziness. I love a uniform and have spent years trying to perfect my own. I’ve been tempted by things that might have thrown me off course in the past–a sparkly mini skirt that seemed like so much fun but ended up sitting in the back of my closet or a cropped sweater that I never really found mustered up the guts to wear.
